Object description
Given its composition and subject matter, this is the work "Horses on a Pasture" by Tymko Boichuk (according to the russian-language inscription in blue ink on the back, the work is titled "On a Pasture"). The abstract of Tamara Zemliana's 2009 dissertation "Monumental Painting by Mykhailo Boichuk and His School" states that this work is kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. https://cheloveknauka.com/monumentalnaya-zhivopis-m-l-boychuka-i-ego-shkola). The same work is mentioned in the article by O. Kashuba-Volvach and M. Drobotiuk as Tymofii Boichuk's work "Horses in the Pasture" and dated to the early 1920s (Kashuba-Volvach O., Drobotiuk M. Ukrainian Art at the XVI Venice Biennale: History of the Formation of the Exposition, Review and Attribution // MIST: Art, history, modernity, theory. Issue 17. – Kyiv: IPSM NAM of Ukraine, 2021. – P. 86). Currently, it is impossible to say which title and dating are more accurate, as this requires a separate study.
