Pioneer Gardeners

The photo shows a version of Antonina Ivanova's painting (?) "Pioneer Gardeners" (according to the Ukrainian-language inscription in simple pencil below the photo: "Ivanova A.M. Pioneer Gardeners. 1932. Moscow"). Antonina Ivanova's archive has a slightly different version of the same photo but with a different date: "1928". Since the inscriptions were made with different writing instruments (a ballpoint pen and a simple pencil), probably at different times, in different languages and handwriting, it is difficult to say which dates are reliable. In both cases, the signatures could have been made during the artist's lifetime and according to her own words. As in the case of the previous photographic print, the style of the original work corresponds not only to developments such as the search for Mykhailo Boichuk's circle but also to current trends in local painting practice. Similarly, the quality of the photograph does not provide comprehensive information about the tonal solution of the composition, and the lack of colour makes it difficult to identify details.
