Object description

The miniature replicates a picturesque portrait by Francois Gerard of 1810; it is stored in the Louvre. The picture represents a knee-length image of a woman in a white Empire silhouette dress in the background of a mountain landscape. Dark hair is styled according to the fashion of the Napoleonic era. The frame is ornamented; it is made of brass.
