Object description
The half-length figure of an unidentified woman appears against a dark, neutral background. The image is depicted flat. Her head is reversed to the left. Clear lines, with almost no use of light and shade, are used to model the face which is the main focus of attention. The dominant feature in the portrait is the colourful stain of the face and the white collar. Fragments of an inscription can be seen on the upper left side of the canvas, which is impossible to read except for some faintly visible letters. Judging by the remnants of the inscription, it can be assumed that the portrait used to be larger.
