Object description
In the half-length portrait, the figure of a man in knight's armour emerges from a dark background against a decorative drapery. The image is executed in the traditions of representational painting. The primary attention is concentrated on the face: a high forehead, definite arches of eyebrows, a straight nose, and a purposeful look of brown eyes drawn flat, which convey the image of a confident and strong-willed man. The dominant accent in the work is a red cloak embroidered with a golden braid fixed on the left shoulder. There are tangible Baroque influences in depicting the character in the portrait.
