Object description
Anna (1652–1655) and Agafia (? –1660) were the children of Matthias and Theodosia. According to the inscription, Anna died in 1655 at age three, and Agafia in 1660 when the icon was painted. The epitaph icon depicts two girls with their hands folded in prayer in front of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the little Jesus in stylised clouds. At the bottom is a partially lost inscription: "ТОГО ИтЦА ПРЕТАВИСЯ РАБА БЖИия АНнА Р: – / АХ.Н.Е. ВЕКИ СВО-ТРЕТЯ ЛЬТА/ – / АХЗ. П – Е Птав..РА – ГАФИЯ ВЕКИ – / (того… преставися раба Божа Анна 1655 віку свого третя лєта, 1660 …раба Агафія віку…)".
