Object description
The sculptural figure of the saint demonstrates a pose distinctive of Baroque plastics. The full-length figure of a young woman, curved in a graceful pose, with her head tilted back, appears restrained. Her right hand is pressed against her chest; her left hand is slightly raised. The saint wears a diadem on her head, and hair cascades down her shoulders. Her pleasant face is focused, looking upwards. The woman is dressed in an elegant, low-cut gown with a corset adorned with a large cross in the centre. The restrained drapery pattern of the attire is dominated by horizontal lines of folds that gently descend and exhibit a slowed-down dynamism. The work is characterised by sophisticated shape modelling.
