Object description
The waist-length figure of the portrayed man is depicted on a dark, vague background. The artist mainly focused on the man's face. The author's main aim was to reveal the man's character. The work is characterised by laconism and the slight revealing of emotions of the person depicted. Although the nobleman's clothing is detailed, it does not distract attention from the central part of the portrait, that is, from the face.
