Object description
A quatrefoil tsuba (mokko-gata) with a wedge-shaped hole (nakago-ana) in the centre and an oval hole (hitsu-ana) for kozuka to the left of it. The corners of the centre hole contain small copper rivets. On either side of the cone-shaped hole on the front side is a low relief decoration in the form of four sakura blossoms. The flat surface of the tsuba contains a relief pattern that on the front side shows small flowers and grass by a stone with a butterfly flying over it, on the reverse - stones and waves in the water. All images on the tsuba contain gilding, copper and silver inlays.
