Object description
A round-shaped tsuba (maru-gata) with a wedge-shaped hole (nakago-ana) in the centre and two holes (hitsu-ana) next to it for kozuka and kogai. The front side has an engraved low-relief depiction of the Oni demon hiding under a boat on the lower right side. At the top is an image of a man with a beard wearing a national headdress, peeking out of a small hole. The man's face and hands are made of copper inserts. To the left of the hole is a branch of a flowering tree. Relief of colour on the branch is made of silver inserts with copper inlay in the centre. On the reverse side of the tsuba in low relief engraving is a stick with a round handle.
