Object description
Portraits of children by themselves were rare in the 18th century. They had representational functions because they were portraits of the descendants of wealthy parents. In the portraits, children are often dressed in costumes similar to those worn by adults, with wigs on their heads. They were presented in frozen poses with unwavering facial expressions. The portrait shows a girl sitting in a frozen pose, dressed in a white dress, carrying a basket of apples. The child is represented as a 'little adult' with a serious look directed at the viewer. The picture is painted in the style of provincial artists.
