Object description

Dorota Barbara Czartoryska (1760–1844) – daughter of Antoni Barnaba Jablonowski and Anna Sanguszko. She was born in Hannopil (now in Khmelnytskyi Oblast). Her father was the castellan of Krakow, a senator of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, a military officer and a patron. In 1778, Dorota became the wife of Jozef Klemens Czartoryski, the Lithuanian stolnik (a royal pantler), starosta (a community elder) of Lutsk, and a delegate to the Sejm of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The portrait depicts the princess with a slight smile on her lips. She is dressed in an 18th-century Rococo gown with goffer and bows, highlighting the elegance of the noble lady.
