Object description
Cyclops is a mythological character. These creatures are divided into three groups: the Hesiodic – positive characters, the three brothers who made lightning for Zeus; the Homeric – negative characters, cannibals led by Polyphemus; and the builders: one of the stone images of such a cyclops was found during excavations in the Colosseum. This figure likely belongs to the third group of mythological creatures. A portrait image of a man's head with a dolichocephalic skull shape and a stern, elongated classical face, a short beard with a moustache and wavy hair. The eye sockets (without eyes) are deeply set under expressive gill arches. On the high forehead in the middle, there is an eye, an oval with a circle in the centre, which looks more like a brand or semantic sign. The head is cast together with a round podium.
Inscriptions
On the bottom of the podium is an inscription in white paint: "№ С-І-554 Л.ОКГ" (partially erased).
