Object description
Stanislaw August Poniatowski (1732–1798) was a son of Stanislaw Poniatowski, a castellan of Krakow, and Konstancja Czartoryska, a castellan of Vilnius. He was a Grand Pantler of Lithuania, a statesman and military leader, and a representative of the noble Poniatowski family. In 1764, he was the last to be elected King of Poland and crowned in Warsaw. The bust-length image of a man turned three-quarters to the right is depicted against a dark background. The king is painted with a blue ribbon – the Order of the White Eagle – across his shoulder.
