Object description

Teodor Potocki (1720–1812) was a Polish magnate, major general of the Crown forces, member of the Bar Confederation, and a voivode of Belz Voivodeship (1791–1795). He was born in the family of Jan Potocki, a castellan of Braclaw, and Konstancja Danilowicz, the third wife of Jan Potocki. In the painting, there is a half-length image of a man dressed in a red kontusz girded with a Slutsk belt. Over his left shoulder, there is a blue ribbon with the Order of the White Eagle, which Potocki was awarded with in 1790. On the chest, there is a red ribbon with the Order of Saint Stanislaus of the Second class. The artist depicted a man with a slight smile on his lips. On the front of the portrait at the top left, there is an inscription: "Teodor Potocki / Wda belski / 1790". At the bottom of the canvas, there is a label: "Teodor Potocki / Wda Belzki / maz Korduli Komorows…".
