Object description
Franciszka Zaluska was first married to Szymon Lubecki, and later she became the wife of Karol Zaluski, Lithuanian Master of the Kitchen (kuchmistrz). In the ceremonial portrait, a woman sits gracefully against a massive column and a blue sky with clouds. In the background, there is a fragment of the garden. The frozen face of a woman with her gaze directed at the viewer is painted planarly and somewhat lost. The portrait of Franciszka Zaluska is painted in the "Venetian" style, as evidenced by the mask in her right hand. The woman is clothed in a low-necked dress decorated with a bouquet in the centre. The hands and neck are decorated with lace. There are expensive earrings in her ears and a silver wig with ostrich feathers, which was fashionable at that time, on her head. On the table, there is a plate with a ring on it. According to T. Sabodash, it may indicate Franciszka's engagement with Karol Zaluski.
